A complete MX-700 setup with discrete codes for most devices.

Contains learned codes for my entire system. Note that only useful functions have been incorporated. The "power" and "night" macros should be all set. "Fav" macros and PVR-related macros are still being developed.

This is a combination of learned and stocked codes. All devices have discrete power except for the DVD, which use a workaround. No images are used except for the "Macro in Progress." None of the components are particularly hard to find, but there are a few specific aspects of the programming that may be useful by example to other programmers:

1. The use of variables to track the power state of various components, reducing macro time. This is particularly helpful with amps and televisions that have a longish "warm up time."
2. The use of variables to create "FAV" style pages for lighting control and other advanced control pages. IE, after adjusting the lights, just press "Jump" and you're back to controlling the TiVo, or wherever you were when you accessed the Lights pages.
3. Help screens for guests or technically challenged owners.
4. The use of LCD backlight color to differentiate the different remote modes (ie, on Watch/Listen, on a device, or on auxillary screen).

All items include discrete power codes, except the DSS & lighting. Discrete codes for most receiver functions - working on the rest.

This system file was setup for ease of use using the WATCH and LISTEN buttons as well as having quick access with PICTURE and SOUND macros on the LCD for commonly used controls like aspect ratio and sound modes. My home theater is fairly simple consisting of only 4 devices plus the light dimmer, but the programming is a little more complex to make the system so easy to use that my wife and kids have no trouble working it. Some features of my system file:

PICTURE and SOUND macros on the main screen for each activity for quick adjustments to the TV or AV receiver.

Page 2 of the WATCH button has all the devices listed. Press and hold feature used to prevent accidental access to device settings.

Page 3 is a special hidden page for virtual devices with macros for favourite channels and DVD selection and TV power for when listening to music.

The 400 DVD mega changer is conatrolled by a virtual device macro that is split in two. The BEGIN macro prepares the DVD player for a numeric entry of slot number (DVD Profiler is used to print a listing) with the remote. This is a straighforward configuration having the activity macros on the first page and model names for the second page. Not so savy users need only to go to the first page and select the activity they want. The second page was intentionally meant for savy users when they need to individually jump to specific devices. Discrete power ON/OFF codes have been provided for most devices and macro power ON/OFF trick for cable box. I am still searching for discretes for the VCOD and I cannot use macro trick because it has a hard drive system. Any activity macro when selected will attemp to power off all devices and power on the selected device for the desired activity. Receiver input signal selection as well as monitor video type selection will also be handled by the macro. Since I am using Comcast with a 63 inch screen, I find it more convenient to use the cable menu or channel guide and then navigate through it because all channel and program information is browsable. My FAV button will just envoke the cable menu.

This is a first cut at my system. I used the 2nd page of Main for my on/off switches. Please feel free to comment and suggest.

Many hard to find discrete codes. I use the mute and prev ch buttons to toggle between my receiver and DVD/TiVo. I also use push and hold macros extensively. My two DSS receivers are next to each other so I have one set for ID 1 and the other to ID 51. I am still looking for a VIDEO 7 discrete for the TV and any Yamaha DSP discretes.
