Contest Entry #11: Jade@MX-3000
Added by André du Fresne | 2005 | 4,384 views
Second Place Winner!I am proud to introduce you to my Jade@MX-3000 configuration file. Some key facts: Almost 350 original graphicsSome 60 variablesAbout 330 Aliases / MacrosHybrid navigation: Either via tapping the screen or by using the cursor keysFull-working Tic-Tac-Toe, including win/lose recognitionNearly all buttons with ON / OFF statusAnimated screen changes4 devices (TV, VCR, DVD, AMP) plus Status and Game screens.Interactive HELP screens for all devices.
With this configuration, I wanted to push the MX-3000 variable capabilities to the limit. By doing so, the remote always knows, which state the devices are in, no matter what you do. The main selection page lets you choose whether to watch TV, DVD or VCR. Go to the AMP screen to change inputs or soundfields etc. Selecting STATUS lets you view and change the state your devices are currently in. You will also find four preprogrammed sleeptimers there. And finally: a GAME for two, the classic game of TIC-TAC-TOE. In the main selection you can navigate either by tapping the desired action/device or - for ultimate convenience - use the cursor... Second Place Winner!I really wanted to enter this .rcc to demonstrate to people how you can create moving animation to a degree. It's creative in mixing video with audio to try and recreate a mini-movie while a macro is being performed.

Contest Entry #13: ...And The Kitchen Sink
Added by Andrew Logie | 2005 | 2,960 views
Second Place Winner! If someone asked you what you wanted in the perfect remote control design for your Universal MX-3000, what would you ask for? How about a remote so intuitive that the babysitter or even your good old grandmother could use it? Wait a minute though, maybe you dont want to sacrifice any control for your state of the art equipment. Of course you would want the coolest looking graphics and buttons that aren't intimidating right? How about some animations you had never seen before (besides the bazillion dollar touchscreen on cribs) or even sounds that actually serve a purpose like keypad buttons that actually tell you what you're pushing while you watch the monitor. What about going a step further and have a pleasant female voice tell you which favorites you've selected by saying the name of the channel? Dont forget the little details. Would you want a remote that didn't have a bunch of tiny buttons that you cant press without the stylus from your PDA? Wow! That seems like a lot to ask for in a single configuration right? Not any more, this is the perfect remote control configuration for you. Who knows, you may even get the wife... (more)

Contest Entry #14: MX-Fun
Added by Peter Ademola Alukoya | 2005 | 2,649 views
What I believe makes this program unique is the ability to combine: The ability to combine animated gifs (both funny and serious)Sounds from well known super-stars and sounds created for travels and family members: I have a wav file (voice of Will Smith from one of his movies). The "What would you like to do" sound on the welcome screen is the voice of a lady who was sitting next to me on the train as I was travelling into New York City one morning. I wanted to use a soft female voice to welcome guests to the MX-3000. The sounds behind the Music and Guess is the voice of a family member. I wanted to create something funny.Ability to create unique designs using Photoshop, ImageReady and other graphic software. The To Do background was drawn free hand in Photoshop and ImageReady.Using icons of well known Cable/Satellite programs to help direct access to those channelsAbility to separate buttons and sections (i.e. buttons under Main section and buttons under Devices section), helping to either prevent or allow access to the buttonsAbility to create hidden buttons and generate macros, animated gifs and sounds within those hidden buttons (there's one hidden... Contest Entry #16: 3D Disc
Added by Mark Cherry | 2010 | 2,904 views
This design has a very simple concept that centralizes around an animated 3D disc that serves many different purposes in this layout. All graphics and animations are completely original, however the channel icon buttons are alterations of existing available graphics. Thanks Much!

Contest Entry #17: Apple OS-mX
Added by Ian Duncan | 2005 | 3,622 views
I wanted to design an interface that had the look and feel of an Apple OS. It needed to be clean, sophisticated, and most of all easy for the end user. It is an activity based remote so the user will be "greeted" and the system will turn on with a macro. Then they will choose a source to watch, listen to, or control. All which will be done with a macro to change the Display and AV Receiver to the right input. What makes my design unique is over all look of the remote. The blue and silver colors of the GUI make great contrast with the physical look of the remote, and are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The use of .PNG graphics is a great improvement on the original versions of URC software, and I utilized the alpha transparent graphics throughout the whole GUI. The ability to have smooth rounded edges is great and really looks slick when downloaded to the remote. I also included a camera device. In the case of using a Quad you can take a digital picture of what the camera is seeing, and have a macro set that picture up on the display in the room. It makes this easy for the end user and a good alternative to an expensive video capable touchscreen. Also included are some... (more)

A lot of what makes this design unique is the time I took laying it out, from the individual pages, to the countdowns I took the time to make.

Here is my entry. I think it is unique because it isn't to fancy. It is functionally a great, and easy to use layout. The graphics are clean and easy to follow.

This is a sports bar themed basement. The remote was designed to control different areas of the basement, including background audio throughout. A lot of planning went into how to lay out the remote in order to control all the sources and rooms and still have the remote seem easy to understand.
