Activity-based macros on main page ensure clarity for first-time users. Fast macros to jump between common operating modes (Cable, DVD, etc.). System-off macro switches TV and Receiver back to most-used mode (cable viewing) before turning components off. This allows the System-on macro to be very quick with only power-on commands (eliminating long macro pauses between power-on and input changes). Experienced users can just use the System-on and jump macros for very quick and efficient mode changes. Common receiver and TV functions (Surround mode, channel levels, etc.) have been copied to other devices to all-but eliminate the need to switch devices on the remote. This file is evolving, so I'd love to hear feedback!

Matt's Home MX-850 Configuration

This config allows the wife to view in 2 differnet places as all AV components are located centrally in main theater room. Family room is a nightly desired viewing area. Everything is behavior based. No need for much else. What do you think?

David Harrison's MX-700

This is an improved (more compact and efficient use of MX-700) file, compared to my earlier posting. In this new posting, the format of the buttons is aligned with the content of the "Guide to Simple Home Theater Operation" provided with the remote - so my family can now refer to the guide. It incorporates discrete ON/OFF for the Yamaha receiver, an on/off workaround for the old analogue Foxtel box, and a discrete off code for the Teac set top box (derived from hex code loaded into a Pronto editor, then imported).

The 1st LCD page has the macros on the left of the LCD screen and the device components on the right. Buttons right of the LCD control the macros and buttons left of the LCD control the device components. After the macro executes it defaults to the device’s LCD control page. Favorite channels are for the Dish Network DSS system. This is my 1st attempt at programming the MX-850, I’ve had it for a week.

This is a straighforward configuration having the activity macros on the first page and model names for the second page. Not so savy users need only to go to the first page and select the activity they want. The second page was intentionally meant for savy users when they need to individually jump to specific devices. Discrete power ON/OFF codes have been provided for most devices and macro power ON/OFF trick for cable box. I am still searching for discretes for the VCOD and I cannot use macro trick because it has a hard drive system. Any activity macro when selected will attemp to power off all devices and power on the selected device for the desired activity. Receiver input signal selection as well as monitor video type selection will also be handled by the macro. Since I am using Comcast with a 63 inch screen, I find it more convenient to use the cable menu or channel guide and then navigate through it because all channel and program information is browsable. My FAV button will just envoke the cable menu.
